From August 31 to September 7, in cooperation with the organization IniciativAngola, we participated in the international project “One World Together”, which was held in Rechberg, also known as Rebrca, in Austria.

Rechberg is a place that has been nurturing and promoting international and interreligious cooperation, dialogue, understanding and togetherness for many years. It was in such an environment that young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Slovenia and Serbia had the opportunity to meet, exchange experiences, make new friends and spend time together.

During the project, the participants learned about the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations, the importance of protecting and preserving the environment, but also about the importance of interreligious dialogue, tolerance and coexistence through various educational and practical activities.

A special part of the project was the activities that allowed the participants to get to know the natural, cultural and social peculiarities of the Austrian province of Carinthia. The participants visited Klagenfurt, Klopeiner Lake and Bleiburg Wiesenmarkt, where a concert supported by the organization IniciativAngola was also held.

The stay in Rechberg offered young people the chance to experience the natural beauty of Carinthia while also stepping away—if only for a moment—from the daily hustle, information overload, and stress of modern life. Time spent in nature, along with shared activities and conversations, created an opportunity to learn about other cultures, customs, and worldviews.

Young people building bridges, not walls

One of the project’s key messages is that young people have the power to change society. Despite the hatred, prejudice, and divisions often imposed upon people, the participants demonstrated that it is possible to establish peace, friendship, understanding, and respect with those who are different from us.

“One World Together” once again showed that getting to know one another, engaging in open dialogue, and sharing experiences can pave the way toward breaking down prejudices and building a society where diversity is not an obstacle, but an asset.

Together, we can build a world where diverse cultures, faiths, and experiences do not divide people, but connect them.
