The second annual event “Circular Economy Week of the Western Balkans”, organized by the LogEx community, will take place from May 22 to 26, 2023. Under the common theme “Partnership to circularity”, numerous activities will take place simultaneously in several countries of the Western Balkans, gathering stakeholders and participants from different fields. The week will start in Pristina, with a conference organized by the Balkan Forum and the International College Univerzum.
This unique regional initiative of the LogEx community, founded by the Balkan Forum, aims to change the current approach of the countries of the Western Balkans to sustainable development through the promotion and implementation of circular economy practices.
Bringing together different actors, including the academic community, civil society organizations, media, companies and experts, the Circular Economy Week aims to encourage cooperation and initiate significant changes in the region.
The event under the theme “Partnership to circularity” is a significant milestone for the Western Balkans region and aims to continuously foster cooperation and exchange of knowledge between different actors, bringing positive changes and creating a healthier future.
Guided by the principles of the circular economy, the week-long activities serve as a platform for the exchange and implementation of innovative ideas, creative solutions and sustainable practices, which will shape the greener future of the Western Balkans, with the ultimate goal of fighting unemployment and emigration of the population in the region.
As part of the “Circular Energy Week”, COD Jajce will hold an educational workshop/round table on the topic: “Potentials and possibilities of waste material for improving the growth of the local economy”. The workshop will be held on May 24, 2023. in the Small Hall of the Municipality of Jajce starting at 12:00 p.m., and will be attended by representatives of the public and private sectors, who are fully or partially dealing with the issue of waste use and recycling.
Also, in the period from May 25 to 29, 2023, workshops will be held with 50 elementary school children on the topic: “The Importance of Textile Waste Recycling” in the premises of KUD Jajce.
With the help of a moderator, children will learn how and in what way to recycle material and give discarded textiles a new purpose.
In agreement with the utility company, the procurement of bins for separating waste, the so-called “green island”, is in progress. Thanks to this project, Jajce will have the first two “green islands” for waste separation, which should greatly facilitate the work of the utility company, which should soon put the “Waste Separation Center” into operation.
The project is supported by the Heinrich Boll Stiftung Sarajevo and the LogEx community.
