“Circular Economy Days” in Jajce from 23 to 27 May 2022.

In the period from 23 to 27 May 2022, Center for Education and Socializing Jajce with the support of the Balkan Forum within the partner regional “LogEx” group will hold “Circular Economy Days”, the first of its kind in the city of Pliva and Vrbas.

The city of Jajce, which proudly bears the epithet of “continental Dubrovnik” in addition to rich cultural and historical treasures, as well as many cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has a major problem of waste disposal, and its sorting and recycling and introduction of new purposes, unfortunately still are a distant dream.

Marking the “Circular Economy Days”, the Center for Education and Socializing with project partners wants to point out the importance of the circular economy, which is a socio-economic system that respects the environment by recycling part of natural resources, ie processed raw materials.

It represents a chance to turn to higher environmental standards and thus reduce the impact of economic activities on the unsustainable use of natural resources and the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

According to the current linear economy represented in BiH, the producer usually produces the product, we as users use it, then end up in waste, mostly illegal landfills, and only a small part goes to recycling or incineration. Given that our region is lagging behind when it comes to preserving the environment and using waste wisely, we are still talking about waste incineration, while in the EU countries there is a circular economy, and incineration permanently loses certain resources.

As part of the “Circular Economy Day” in the foyer of the House of Culture (Dom kulture) on May 23 at 12 o’clock there will be a round table where attendees will learn more about the concept of circular economy, positive examples in practice, in the matter of introducing the circular economy into everyday practice.

On this occasion, the youngest citizens of Jajce will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the concept of circular economy through interesting educational – creative workshops with primary school students “Berta Kučera” and “13 rujan” , where with the help of moderators will give waste materials new uses and collected PET packaging will collect over the next few days, will be happy to send for recycling and thus give its modest contribution to the circular economy and the preservation of the natural environment.
