As part of the European youth project EYE – European Youth Empowerment, the young people of Jajce had the opportunity to visit the Greek island of Rhodes in the period from June 26 to 29, 2022.
It is a project sponsored by the EU, which brings together young people from Europe (Italy, Finland, Lithuania, Greece) and the Balkans (BiH – Jajce and Montenegro – Herceg Novi) with the aim of getting to know common European values, history, culture, and all that what connects us.
Otherwise, the project started in 2019 when the first meetings were held in the Italian town of Pordenone, in February 2020 the meetings were held in the Finnish town of Kalajoki, and after a two-year pandemic break, the project continued in Greece on the island of Rhodes.
Through interesting workshops and LARP (Live Action Role Playing), young people get to know each other, representing the cultural values of their country, and through the LARP game, immersing themselves in the roles of former European events, they learn many interesting details of the rich history of the place where they live, in Greece it was “Grand Master Challenge”.
The island of Rhodes, which abounds in rich medieval history, tradition, monuments preserved and maintained by UNESCO, wonderful beaches and the clean Aegean Sea, will remain a wonderful memory for the young participants, and the friendships made are a special treasure they take away from this trip.
The BiH partner in the project is the Municipality of Jajce in cooperation with the Center for Education and Socialization in Jajce – COD Jajce, which is also the next destination and meeting place for young people in August/August 2022, and for the meetings in Lithuania in September/September 2022, the EYE project will be officially completed.
