Out of 120 registered youth groups for the USHIFT workshops, young high school students from Jajce managed to enter the top 10 by winning technical equipment to attend the online workshops that will be held from May 27 to 19, 2023.
UPSHIFT is an opportunity for young people who notice problems in their local communities and want to work to solve them. With the support of their mentors, they look for the best solution to the problem they discovered, and then present them to an expert jury that decides which ideas will be financed with grant funds, and implemented with the help of UPSHIFT staff.
“Recently, applications for the new UPSHIFT workshop were opened, and our team also applied for it. We reported a couple of problems that we considered significant for young people in our city. There were 120 applications, and 20 teams had the opportunity to be part of the online interview, including us. The best 10 teams were selected to participate in the UPSHIFT workshop, which will be held from May 17 to 19 in Sarajevo, where the teams will socialize and compete for grant funds. Our team was also selected to participate with the problem of ‘difference in dress code for girls and boys’. By reporting this problem, we want to fight for gender equality, and we are very much looking forward to additional work at the workshop. Considering that we have passed all rounds of selection, we have also been assigned technical equipment that will remain in our permanent ownership, and which we will use in COD Jajce, which will support us in implementation. We agreed on cooperation with the Center for Education and Socialization and signed a memorandum for this purpose. We hope that we will continue our excellent cooperation with the mentioned organizations and achieve excellent results.” – said Hana Turudić, a member of the Jajce’s youth group.
